Health & Wellbeing Forum Dec 2019 - The Big Squeeze

For our latest Forum on 2nd December 2019, we focused on how financial pressures and hardship are impacting on people’s ability to keep themselves well in Sheffield.

Our Health & Wellbeing Forums (formally known as VCF Forums) bring together decision makers, members of the public, and those working across voluntary and statutory organisations. We discuss topics related to the health & wellbeing of local people. Find out more here.

How are Sheffield households keeping well in the face of financial pressure?

With 23.3% of Sheffield households in poverty, and disabled people and carers being disproportionately affected, we wanted to think about how we could work together to improve this.

We partnered with Disability Sheffield and the Disability Hub for this event, where we wanted to better understand the nature of the financial pressures people are facing, the impact this is having on people’s health and wellbeing, and consider what actions we can take collectively to address this.
