What is Scrutiny?
The central purpose of scrutiny is to hold decision makers to account, examine services provided by the Council and its partners, as well as to carry out in-depth reviews into specific service areas.
The aim of these scrutiny functions is to continuously improve the delivery of local public services to residents.
Both overview and scrutiny committees and local Healthwatch have powers that can be used to hold commissioners and providers to account. This forum provided an opportunity to find out how Healthwatch contributes to the scrutiny process and opportunities for the wider voluntary and community sector to bring the voices of local people to the fore.
