Enter & View - Scarsdale Grange Nursing Home

In November 2018, 2 of our Enter & View volunteers visited Scarsdale Grange Nursing Home.

Our Enter & View programme involves visiting publicly funded health and social care services in Sheffield to talk to service users, their relatives and carers, as well as staff. Visits are carried out by our Enter & View volunteers.

Enter & View is different to an inspection - we focus on what it is like for people receiving care. Visiting places where people actually receive care is a powerful way for us to hear directly from individuals about their experiences of services.

Key findings:

  • The residents and visitors we spoke to expressed satisfaction with the care given at the home.
  • The environment was generally suitable for residents’ needs, with ensuite rooms, although refurbishment is needed in residents’ rooms, and outdoor areas.
  • Staff told us they have the opportunity for extensive training, and said they take this up.
  • Residents were seen to be well cared-for by staff, which we observed during the midmorning tea/coffee break.
