Enter & View - Baslow Road Surgery

In December 2015, 2 of our Enter & View volunteers visited Baslow Road GP surgery.

Our Enter & View programme involves visiting publicly funded health and social care services in Sheffield to talk to service users, their relatives and carers, as well as staff. Visits are carried out by our Enter & View volunteers.

Enter & View is different to an inspection - we focus on what it is like for people receiving care. Visiting places where people actually receive care is a powerful way for us to hear directly from individuals about their experiences of services.

Key findings:

  • Baslow Road Surgery provides clinical care that is highly valued by its patients in well-kept premises that have been adapted to improve physical access on a site with a challenging (sloping) approach.
  • There are differing perceptions from the small number of people we spoke to in terms of service responsiveness, including waiting times for booked appointments, and a number of patients spoken to were not fully aware of all the strands of service provision that they had the potential to access.
  • Service providers and patients would benefit from closer partnership working to share concerns and ideas and to agree and test new ways of keeping patients informed about how best to access services and the context and challenges for staff of meeting increasing service demands
