Organisations across Sheffield have committed to work together to improve care and support for people living with or caring for someone with dementia. NHS Sheffield CCG want to involve people with lived experience in planning how this should work.

Loneliness and social isolation affect so many people in our society and we know that the voluntary sector have been tackling these issues for years and have many valuable insights and ideas to share.

This report provides a snapshot of the barriers Deaf people experience in using health and social care services in Sheffield. It sets out many of the issues we've heard, and what we're asking commissioners and service providers to do in response.

In January 2018, we published our report ‘Not Equal: The experiences of Deaf people accessing health and social care services in Sheffield’. This is the British Sign Language version of the report.

The topic for the final Forum of 2017 was chosen based on public feedback. They believed that despite a number of attempts to re-think commissioning, the talents and expertise of the VCF sector
still aren’t being effectively harnessed.

We worked with Sheffield Mencap and Gateway to explore the experiences of people with a Learning Disability when they access health and social care services.

In July 2017, we hosted a VCF (Voluntary, Community and Faith sector) Forum to explore how we can promote health and wellbeing in Sheffield.

In November 2016, 4 of our Enter & View volunteers visited Beech Hill Intermediate Care Unit. This is an NHS community rehabilitation unit, providing intermediate care for patients following a stay in hospital.

In March 2017, 2 of our Enter & View volunteers visited Rose Cottage Nursing Care Home.

In March and April, people living in Sheffield, Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster and Rotherham were asked for their views on the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) in a series of ‘STP Conversations’.
