Healthwatch Sheffield briefing on Urgent Care Consultation

NHS Sheffield CCG ran an 18 week consultation into the future of urgent care in the city between 6th September 2017 and 31st January 2018. This report from our Strategic Advisory Group outlines our position on the process.

Local residents were presented with three different options, and were able to give feedback on the proposals. At the end of the consultation period, Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) had received over 4,000 survey responses, and petitions with over 10,000 signatures.

Many people did not feel that the proposals were suitable, and the CCG is now reviewing other options.

Our position

Our Strategic Advisory Group have agreed on the following areas which we believe are crucial parts of any further consultation in this area:

  • The communication and inclusivity of the consultation proposals
  • The ability of primary care services to provide urgent appointments
  • Transparency
  • Access for people in the South of the city and vulnerable people in the city centre

Our representatives will advocate for these principles at future meetings about changes to urgent care across the city.
