£37m available for general practice in Sheffield

Sheffield is receiving a share of £1 billion in government funding - this money will be used to transform general practice in the city. Have your say on the new plans.

What's changing?

NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have £37 million to help with upgrades and infrastructure in primary care.

They are thinking of using this money to create five new health centres. These would house GP services, and possibly other services too, including other health services, voluntary sector services, and Council services.

Who will this affect?

There are some areas in Sheffield that haven't benefited from previous funding, which means their buildings are in the most need of modernisation. Sheffield CCG would like to hear from people living in these areas, which are:

  • City centre
  • Shiregreen, Firth Park, Southey Green and Parson Cross
  • Burngreave, Pitsmoor, Firvale and Page Hall

Some GP practices in these areas have already expressed interest in moving into new premises. If this goes ahead, it will mean those current sites would close.

Have your say

The Sheffield CCG website has a page with more information, showing maps of which practices could move, and where they might go:
