Consultation on interpreter services in primary care

Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group is holding a consultation into interpreter services in primary care settings (GPs, dentists and optometrists).

They are particularly interested in issues like using relatives/friends/children as interpreters and the difference between telephone and face-to-face interpreting.

#SpeakUp: Space to Breathe

This is the first report from the 2023-24 round of #SpeakUp grants. Space to Breathe worked in partnership with others to run a pilot project, exploring the challenges faced by people trying to access mental health support from their GP practice. Read more about their findings.
For this project, Space to Breathe partnered with Chapelgreen Surgery and a Lived Experience team of wellbeing workers. They spoke with 78 people about what would help them to access their GP surgery when they're struggling with their mental health.

GP website health check

We analysed 74 GP practice websites to see whether patients across Sheffield can access services online. We found a widely varying picture across the city.
Members of the public have been telling us that they struggle to contact their GP practice by phone. However, GP practice websites don't always support people to use online services instead.
