Have your say on the NHS Mandate

The mandate to NHS England sets the government’s objectives for NHS England, as well as its budget.

In doing so, the mandate sets direction for the NHS, and helps ensure the NHS is accountable to Parliament and the public.

In accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2012, the Secretary of State must publish a mandate each year, to ensure that NHS England’s objectives remain up to date.

A new mandate to NHS England is due to be published following the completion of the Spending Review, to take effect from April 2016.
