Local study of ‘The Demand and Provision for Cosmetic Dentistry in the UK’

Have you had or are contemplating having treatment or care to make your smile more beautiful?
Dentist looking at a dental x-ray

Rizwana is a lecturer at the University of Sheffield interested in the wide range of ‘looks’ people may consider beautiful such as teeth whitening, veneers, gold crowns, teeth jewels, gold grillz and teeth tattoos.

She would like to invite you to take part in a study looking at the demand and provision for cosmetic dentistry in the UK. The purpose of this study is to understand what people understand by a beautiful smile, what may motivate people to change the appearance of their smile and people’s experiences of having cosmetic dentistry.

By having a greater appreciation of the motivations behind people’s desire for dentistry and the places where people seek treatment, Rizwana aims to highlight areas of good practice and make recommendations to key organisations involved in the practice of cosmetic dentistry to improve people’s experiences.

Participation involves being interviewed by Rizwana in confidence about your views on cosmetic dentistry. The interview will take place at a location that is convenient for you and will last about one hour though may be shorter/longer at your discretion. You will also be asked to keep a three-day diary to note and reflect on any influences that may have contributed to you having or consider having any form of cosmetic treatment.
